MANC 20th Anniversary Picnic - Saturday, July 4, 2009 - 10 AM to 6 PM PDF Print E-mail

MANC Members, Townmates, and Friends,

Our 20th Anniversary Picnic was held on Saturday, July, 4, 2009 at Cataldi Park in San Jose, California from 10:00 AM to sunset. Magsingal Association of Northern California provided 1 roast pig and kilawen & kalderata kalding were provided by Nestor & Marfe. There were a lot of food such as dinardaraan, adobong chicken and pork afritada, etc and a lot water & soda that was more than we could drink. There were 2 tables of dessert that were brought home after the picnic.

There were games such as tug of war and musical chairs for kids and adults.

New officers for the term 2009 - 2011 line up was established and later confirmed as elected since there were no opponent in any of the positions.

Thanks to all members and friends, who brought their favorite dish and drinks and most importantly for coming to the picnic. I want to thank the new members and promise that they'll have a good time and feel good being members of this association.

Pictures from the picnic are already posted in this website in the gallery area.

As the re-elected president of MANC, I want to thank all of the officers and members of MANC who entrusted me another term to serve as president of this association. I promise to continue serving MANC to the best of my ability to raise more funds so that MANC will have funds to sponsor another medical mission to Magsingal in April, 2011 and continue to award scholarships to our bright but poor students in Magsingal to the University of Northern Philippines in the many years to come.

Of course, I want to thank all the officers, members and friends who supported me in my first term as president. Without your help, MANC would have not been as successful as it is. Please continue to support me and MANC's noble projects.

Those folks from Magsingal, who haven't join this association and wish to be a member, please e-mail Nestor at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Successful 19th Annual Dinner Dance PDF Print E-mail
Written by Nestor Viloria
Monday, 03 November 2008 23:20

I am very happy and gratefull to all members who contributed money, food, and services leading to the successfull completion of our party. I was so happy that I invited some of the last members to leave Grange Hall to have some Vietnamese (Pho) soup after the dinner dance. 15 of us went and had soup.

I was not expecting a big turn out especially there was a storm all day but to my surprise when guests started showing up between 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Thanks to Stan Raroque, Angie Casas, Andy Ulibas, Mervic Favor, and Lumen Rosario for inviting a lot of guests.

Mg Zeny, Vangie and mg Elay took care of registering guests making sure we get paid for our services.

Mg Ramon Mendoza, mg Chito Tolentino, mg Delia Jurado, mg Cres Ravelo, Lumen Rosario, Clarita Ulibas, Marfe Viloria, Mervic Favor, Zeny Cruz, and Rochelle Tolentino were the ones who set up the table and served the food.

Ray & Minnie Cruz made sure there are food supplies to be served.

Tante Rosario took some pictures and Cecille was our usher during the dinner.

Jack Ulibas made sure the there are room for our guests in the dining area

Almost all members were working happily to make sure that our guests were comfortable and had a place to eat.

Of course, I want to thank all the guests who came. Without you it would be hard for us to finish all the food.

Thanks again to all of those who helped in any way.

The Magsingal Association of Northern California, Inc. This mission will be held at the PastoralCenter adjacent to the Church from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM. Registration should begin around 8:00 AM. The purpose of this mission is to reach out to our “kailians” in Magsingal who are financially disadvantaged and who are in dire need of medical or dental assistance. This mission came into fruition through the tireless effort of many members and officers of MANC, Inc. and through the strong leaderships of former President Delia Jurado and current President Nestor Viloria. Delia Jurado had been going back and forth to Magsingal quite frequently during the last year or so and saw the need of our “kailians.” The Association would like to express its gratitude to the many sponsors of this mission, from “kailians” all over the United States who have given medicines and generous financial support, but most especially to the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Ilocos Sur who will be heading and administering this very important project, and to the volunteers in Magsingal who acted as liaisons between the officers and members of MANC, Inc. and the Rotary Club. We thank especially Lorna Luczon for coordinating this event. Activities this day will involve screening and testing for hypertension and diabetes, dispensing of hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid, ulcer, otitis externa, depression, osteoporosis, fever, and common cold medicines. There will be some minor surgeries, tooth extractions and teeth cleaning. We are therefore looking forward to seeing our “kailians” and, we, at MANC, Inc., hope can make a difference in your lives.

MANC is a not for profit corporation, which we formed, so that we from northern California can get together as one family. In 1996, we decided to join the Magsingal Summer Festival and started awarding scholarship to bright but financially challenged students to a 4 year college course at the Univesity of Northern Philippines. To date we had awarded, with the help of family sponsors, a total of 25 students and at least 16 of them already graduated and some have already good jobs. Membership is US $10 and another $5.00 for Bearevement Benefit annually and is open to anyone who has a Magsingal root worldwide. Magsingal Fiesta 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Image:The Magsingal Summer Festival 2008 is a success as far as MANC is concern

We started when Rebecca Cruz Limcuando, a candidate from MANC won the Balikbayan Night Popularity contest besting the candidates from Hawaii and Canada. Congratulations Rebecca!

We crowned our queen Lumen Rosario 1st and her Royal Court ist Princess Beth Tolentino and 2nd Princess Vilma Villarosa with no less than the governor of Ilocos Sur DV Savellano puting the crown on queen Lumen1. During the coronation night, we have raffled a total amount of $550.00 to our Kailians, who were present at the time of the drawing of the winning tickets. Tickets were given to all viewers for free.

We served drinks and around1500 sandwitches to all the viewers with the help of 13 scholars, who were assisting us that night. The scholars also helped us prepare the sandwitches.

Caranto Orchestra from Pangasinan played music for the night with around 10 dancing ladies.

Our medical mission was conducted last Friday 3/28/08 and was supported by doctors and nurses, who volunteered their services from Rotary Club of North Ilocos Sur and Social Action Groups.

Of course this medical mission wouldn't have been as successful without the help of all MANC members and the parish priest (Fr. Rebebes).

For pictures of the events, please go to our gallery.

Thanks to all of you! We hope to do another medical mission in the future.
